Which Power BI license do we need?
Power BI Pro is enough. The pack ships as standard .pbip / .pbix files. Premium Per User works fine too if you want larger refresh limits. No Premium capacity (P-SKU) required.
Does it work on-prem or cloud-only?
Both. Source CSVs can sit on a SharePoint, OneDrive, on-prem file share via Gateway, or a SQL Server (we ship a connector example). Cloud-only setups deploy in minutes; on-prem setups need a standard PBI Gateway install.
What if our chart of accounts doesn’t match?
Because it reads Business Central’s native tables (15/17/96), a standard BC chart of accounts maps straight through. If yours is customised, the mapping lives in one Power Query step you can adjust — the source files are open, nothing is locked. The free Profit & Loss Statement mini lets you test the fit before you buy.
Who hosts the dataset — TIAM or us?
You do. Always. The pack is delivered to your Power BI workspace, in your tenant, under your control. There is no “dashboardready cloud” — you own everything from day one.
Do we get the .pbip source files?
Yes. Both .pbip (source-control friendly) and .pbix (single-file). Open in Power BI Desktop, edit freely, fork it, rebrand it. We don’t lock anything.
How do I know it actually ties out?
The tie-out validator is built into the model. It reconciles the reported numbers to your source G/L and flags any line that doesn’t — so you watch it reconcile (or see exactly what to fix at source) before you rely on a single figure.
Multi-entity / multi-currency?
Multi-entity works — label your accounts with an entity column. Multi-currency needs a small extension to the model; since you get the source files, it’s a contained change you (or any Power BI dev) can make.
Can we share it across the group?
Within your own organization, yes — unlimited internal users. The license covers one legal entity / group. If you want to redistribute or resell, that’s a different license.
Isn’t Microsoft’s Business Central Power BI app free?
It is, and it’s a fine starting point for raw connectivity. But it’s generic. You’re paying here for a curated, board-ready suite across five finance domains, reconciled to the cent, plus the Steering Playbook method — the finished model and the way to run on it, not just a pipe to your data.
Why only $997 if it replaces an $10k+ build?
